Fabiana Masili - Lead vocalist and plays percussions
Fabiana Masili was born in Rio Claro, Sao Paulo, Brazil,
in 1978. Musically gifted from her earliest
years, Masili started playing the organ at the age of eight and began working professionally in bands
at 15. Masili studied popular music at the prestigious State University of Campinas, Brazil, earning her
bachelor's degree in music while singing and producing at the famed Brazilian recording studio, Fabrica do Som.
Masili's singing has earned her prominent awards in Brazil such
as "Best Jingle (2000)" and "Best Soundtrack for
TV (2001)." Masili also has participated in many CD recordings. She moved to the United States in 2001 to study
at the Jazzschool in Berkeley, CA. Two years later, Masili moved to New York and quickly became a crowd
favorite. With regular performances at The Zinc Bar, Cafe Wha?, and S.O.B.'s, Masili has made her mark
among the greatest musicians in the city.
Jose Ze Grey - Bassist and background vocalist
Ze Grey is an accomplished Brazilian bass player born in Rio de Janeiro who has been living in the
United States since 1994. His unique style and masterful technical skills have not only established him as a
respected musician in his own country, but have gained him a strong reputation on the New York
music scene. Performing no less than 150 gigs each year, Grey is known as a versatile player who is capable of
diverse styles. His bass-playing is marked by its creativity and he is an inspired songwriter as well. Grey's
contribution to the music industry has been exceptional and he has collaborated with celebrated artists such as
African pop star Angelique Kidjo, Grammy award winner Nestor Torres, dance music artist Danielle Bollinger,
and S.O.B.’s Brazooca Band, among many others.
Adriano Santos - Drummer and percussionist
Adriano Santos was born in So Paulo, Brasil in 1966.
Part of a new generation of Brazilian drummers
he begun his drum studies at the age of twelve at Zimbo Trio Music School in his hometown. In 1988 he moved
to Boston to study at Berklee College of Music where he got his B.A. in Film Scoring. Moving to New York in 1995,
Adriano started his Masters Degree at City College of New York where he had the chance to enjoy ensemble
lessons with the great jazz legend Ron Carter. As a professional he has performed with top international
artists such as Astrud Gilberto, Gal Costa, Leny Andrade, Luciana Souza, Romero Lubambo, Leo Gandelman,
Paulo Moura, John Pizzarelli, Harry Allen, Slide Hampton Big Band, Vana Gierig, Paul Winter and the Boston
Pops, to name a few.
Adriano is currently performing with the Brazilian songwriter Vinicius Cantuaria and with harmonica
virtuoso Hendrik Meurkens. He has also recorded "Pretty World", a project produced and arranged by the
great Eumir Deodato with Japanese sensation Lisa Ono. Adriano has produced publications in specialized
drum magazines and has released a drum book through Drummers Collective NYC (where he is part of the faculty)
called, "Afro-Caribbean & Brazilian Rhythms for Drum Set". Adriano is endorsed by Vic Firth Sticks,
Odery Drums and Istanbul Agop Cymbals.
